Molly had interviewed a few companies and received bids on her master bathroom, a full bath remodel project in early June. Her existing bathroom didn’t appear to be in bad shape, although we did notice that the walls looked to be lathe and plaster and that’s never fun. We added in a couple days to our estimated schedule for full demo down to studs and received a call back within 24 hours. 40% check in hand, she was ready to move ahead with us. While there are normally more “before” photos, our original bid was for just the wet space, so pictures are lacking on this one. Sorry!

Work begin in early July. Luckily for us, Molly had a second bathroom to use. While our original contract had us laying down LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) in “Carrara” down over her existing tiled floor, as the wet space was demo’d we discovered major subfloor rot. Unfortunately, the entire subfloor would have to be replaced, and there was about 4″ of cracking self-leveler poured over that. For all of those reading this in horror, it amounted to a $1200 upcharge for us to rectify. The additional work took our crew an entire day to clean the room out and another day to lay down fresh 3/4″ ply for the subfloor.

From here the job went a little smoother, and it was a good thing that we pulled up the floor. Our install tech found a heating vent terminated underneath the tub! For the last couple decades, their bathroom was receiving no heat. We re-routed the HVAC into the wall correctly and installed new mold resistant drywall on every wall. Our specialist mud/painter came in and finished it perfectly.

From here we installed the cultured stone slab surround, new window & door trim, LVP flooring, and vanity. Homeowner opted to keep their original toilet and medicine cabinet. We ALWAYS recommend replacing the toilet, as we have to replace shut offs and supply lines anyway to prevent against leaks. In our experience, old and corroded shut off valves are the #1 cause of bathroom floods. Our painter came in at the end of the project for touch ups. Our operations manager spoke to Molly this morning and she is absolutely thrilled. No complaints. We are happy to have gotten the job done and thank her for her patience! Please call us anytime.
