If you’ve read through the rest of our write-ups, you might remember reading how we don’t generally offer acrylic installations. We don’t! And there’s a reason for it: with just a little more investment, we can offer a much nicer and superior product in comparison to the majority of our competition. In fact, our project managers don’t even have the option anymore to sell acrylic on their spec sheets. That being said, we make exceptions in two cases: veterans with HISA grants, and the disabled on very tight budgets. Sherry was the latter. She was in a bad spot with medical issues and having trouble getting in and out of her tub, but she was also selling the house soon and couldn’t afford to make any major improvements, Still, she wanted to safeguard herself until then with a tub to shower conversion. We were able to source acrylic and agreed to provide her with a real budget option.
Her original tub and tile surround were in bad shape. If you look closely, you can see tape around the edges of the tub in an attempt to stop water from pouring through the ceiling below. The tiles toward the top of the tub were bulging from water damage. After checking to make sure we had the materials available, we agreed to rip out her current enclosure down to studs and replace it with a stone composite base. The walls would be examined for damage and repaired if necessary.
Installation started around two months after our original appointment. We were lucky to find no damage. The entire job took the better part of two days and the shower was ready to use when the installers left. Sherry left us a glowing review and personally texted Tom Wolff, one of the Bath Pros owners, to thank him for the service provided. Here was her text:
