Mirha called Syracuse Bath Pros after reaching out to a few other remodeling companies. A working mother of three, she lived in a high-end home in one of Manlius’ most desirable neighborhoods and was searching for a remodeler who could offer something more substantial than the typical “1-day” acrylic job. After a brief introductory phone call to go over the general scope of work, Tom Wolff—Bath Pros’ owner and longtime Manlius local—scheduled a time to meet later that week, sit down with her, offer tailored recommendations, and review material samples together.
The bathroom wasn’t in bad shape. In fact, aside from being slightly outdated, most homeowners wouldn’t have thought twice about keeping it as-is. But Mirha had higher standards, and a few functional concerns to boot: two of her children have special needs, and lifting them in and out of the existing tub had become difficult. Accessibility, along with durability and modern aesthetics, would guide much of the design.
Mirha knew what she wanted: a light and polished tiled floor, a hardwood vanity, updated toilet, a fresh coat of paint, and one of the increasingly popular LED-backlit mirrors that now feature in nearly half of our full bath remodels. While she had a clear vision, we offered one strong suggestion—skip the glossy tile. Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) has come a long way in recent years, and it’s now the go-to flooring for most of our clients. It’s softer underfoot, easier to clean, more forgiving on uneven subfloors, and better suited to the wear and tear of a busy household. Glossy tile, while elegant, scratches easily and often requires a liability waiver due to its high-maintenance nature.
Mirha appreciated the advice but ultimately decided to have a family friend handle the floor install separately—we respected her decision and were happy to focus on the rest of the project.
About two months later, our lead technician, Vinny Aponte, and his assistant, John, showed up right on time at 8 a.m. on a Monday to get started. Demolition was mostly straightforward—no hidden mold or rotted subfloor, which is always a relief—but the new vanity posed a challenge. The water lines weren’t centered and needed to be re-routed without damaging the surrounding drywall, which had already been primed for paint. Vinny carefully opened up just enough space to reposition the plumbing, patched the area, and still managed to keep the timeline on track.
Even though this project took place during one of Syracuse’s snowiest winters on record, the weather cooperated. The full remodel—including paint and finishing touches—wrapped up within five days.
