Matt called us after speaking to another company that couldn’t offer anything more luxury than acrylic. He was interested only in the cultured stone slab, or possibly tile. We don’t install tile and we don’t recommend it for a number of reasons — if you’re interested, read our write-up of tile vs solid surface by clicking HERE. Both Matt and his partner were in great shape and not otherwise concerned about mobility issues. Their existing bath looked pretty nice, and they kept their tub/shower space very clean, but wanted to upgrade it to match the same level of craftsmanship as the rest of the house. After leaving an exact estimate, Matt called us back a few days later and put down 40% to get on our calendar.

There were a few issues with this installation. Because the shower space was not entirely square, the wall left wall had to be floated out a bit with mud to even the drywall out. Unfortunately, our installer was not skilled enough to do this on the spot and we had to send out someone else to complete the work. Additionally, the homeowner noticed that one of the safety bars was off by about 1/4″ and not installed plumb. Once again, we submitted a service order and sent an installer out to correct. As an apology for the extra hassle, we agreed to install a ceiling light above his shower free of cost. In the end we provided the bathroom we promised we would, and we hope the homeowner is happy, but it just goes to show that even the best companies sometimes have hiccups. The entire job took two days, plus a half day for drywall repair, and an additional visit to install the requested shower light. Photos below:
