Claire first found us at the 2025 CNY Home & Garden Show. Like many attendees, she came to compare vendors and get a feel for the remodeling landscape. Aside from one other company—whose quote was nearly 40% higher for the same materials—she wasn’t particularly impressed by the competition. We hear that a lot. If you’re a homeowner in Upstate NY, we’d love to see you at next year’s shows in Syracuse, Buffalo, or Utica. We set up real, functional shower displays and give you a chance to meet our project managers and installers—no pressure, no sales games.

A few weeks after the event, Claire reached out and scheduled a site visit with Tom Wolff. Her home was clean and well-kept, and she had recently finished a beautiful kitchen remodel. The bathroom was next on her list. In truth, the bathroom wasn’t in bad shape—it still had the original builder-grade fiberglass surround, which was fully intact. These surrounds might yellow or fade over time, but they rarely fail. Still, Claire wanted an upgrade.
She wasn’t looking for anything fancy—just a clean, simple conversion. Her plan was to remove the fiberglass tub and install a cultured stone walk-in shower in its place. No doors, just a curtain rod and a safety bar for comfort. For us, this is a very standard install.
One thing Tom noted: the existing fiberglass tub was raised nearly 9″ above the bathroom floor, a sign that the drain plumbing might be sitting above grade. That’s not uncommon, especially in older homes where routing between joists wasn’t always feasible. If that were the case, we’d likely have to raise the new pan up a few inches to accommodate proper slope. Claire understood and didn’t mind the change.

As always, there was no pressure to move forward—no fake “one-day-only” discounts or canned urgency. But we did explain two very real factors worth considering:
- Our calendar was already booking out nearly three months.
- Market volatility and material tariffs were making pricing unpredictable.
Claire called back a few days later ready to move forward, and we were able to honor the quote she received. Everyone was happy. She secured a spot about ten weeks out.

Rick and Stacey arrived on a Tuesday morning around 9 am to begin demo. Aside from raising the pan and rerouting the plumbing, everything went smoothly. Midway through, Claire let us know we wouldn’t be able to work on Friday due to prior plans. While our agreements don’t normally allow for skipped days once work begins, we were ahead of schedule and had some flexibility with the next job, so we were happy to oblige. That said—homeowners, take note: we can’t always do this!

With the adjusted plumbing and elevated pan, the job wrapped up in just three and a half days. Claire was thrilled and personally called our office to compliment Rick and Stacey’s professionalism and attention to detail.
We’re proud of the work and glad Claire found us.
