Qadir reached out to Syracuse Bath Pros after receiving a referral from a recent customer of ours—and only after doing his homework by interviewing a few competitors. If you’ve followed our write-ups before, you know the pattern: every other estimate he received featured flimsy, cheap acrylic—often at the same price point or even higher than ours. After a quick phone call with project manager, we scheduled an in-home consultation.

We apologize for the low quality picture but the homeowners were on a time schedule and we could only snap this single ‘before’ photo! Qadir’s home was situated in a beautiful neighborhood, and while most of the interior reflected quality craftsmanship and tasteful design, the master bathroom told a different story. The original builder had clearly cut corners with a fiberglass insert—what we in the industry call “builder grade.” The bathroom had potential, though. A large window let in ample natural light, and the rest of the finishes were more aligned with the type of mid-to-high-end work we specialize in.

We showed Qadir samples of both the Onyx Collection and Samuel Mueller systems. The Samuel Mueller line has a marbled aesthetic, while the Onyx Collection offers more of a granite-style finish. Both are excellent cultured stone type products, but we personally lean toward Onyx for its look, quality, and pricing—especially as tariffs on imported goods have made overseas options like Mueller increasingly expensive.

Qadir was immediately impressed by the Onyx Collection. Proudly manufactured in Kansas, Onyx hasn’t seen the kind of price surges affecting much of the remodeling industry. In fact, it’s not uncommon for us to quote Onyx slab installations at a lower price than some acrylic competitors. That’s a big reason we’ve stuck with them—they offer better quality at an accessible price.

Jen made it clear there was no sales pressure. We aren’t about gimmicks or high-pressure closings. But we are facing two real constraints: volatile tariffs, which could impact future material costs, and calendar availability—currently booked out ten to twelve weeks across all regions.

When our lead install technician arrived on site that Monday morning, things couldn’t have gone smoother. Many installs throw us curveballs—plumbing above grade, rotten subfloors, mold, pest damage, or outdated barrel traps. It’s rare when we don’t have to make adjustments midstream. But Qadir’s install? Clean and efficient. No issues with plumbing, no structural damage, no service calls. The insulation looked great, and the walls were perfectly plumb.

James took his time, making sure every detail was showroom quality. By Thursday night, the project was complete.

This installation features the Onyx Collection in the ‘Travertine’ finish, with a rounded corner seat, a safety bar for accessibility, and a recessed niche for shower storage. We also installed an American Standard Spectra Duo—a dual shower head and wand system—and finished the look with Rain Glass doors for extra privacy.

Check out the transformation in the photos. It’s another job we’re proud to put our name on.
