After moving from Long Island, Anna and her husband James spent months living in hotels while searching for the perfect home. When they finally found one with a beautiful view of the lake, they were thrilled to move in. The house was in good shape overall, but there were a few “builder-grade” elements that Anna wanted to replace. A) She was renovating her old kitchen (we didn’t get a chance to bid on that one), and B) She wanted to replace the shower in the upstairs guest bath. That’s where we came in.
The bathroom was fairly typical of many we’ve seen. It had a fiberglass enclosure that, honestly, looked like it was in good condition, but Anna didn’t like how cheap it felt. Tom Wolff visited Anna and James before the holidays and brought along samples from The Onyx Collection for them to review. Anna was thrilled with the ability to mix and match stone selections for the floor and walls. She especially liked the option of stone crown molding that matched perfectly.
Her vanity was still in decent shape, but the top had definitely seen better days. So, she chose to replace it with matching stone as well. Being a full bathroom remodeling company, we were happy to accommodate her requests. We regularly match countertops with our shower installations. Every detail is custom, from the size of the vanity to the shape of the sink, to the selection of the backsplash and fixtures.
James showed up at 7:45 am on a Monday (typically the start of our workweek) and got straight to work on the demolition. This project was pretty straightforward — by the end of the day, James and his helper had removed the shower unit and prepped the floor. There were absolutely no complications. The entire project took just three full days, including the vanity top installation. Anna was so happy with the work, she left a positive review before James even finished cleaning up!
For this particular walk-in shower, we installed a floor in The Onyx Collection’s “Blue Pearl” and 11.25″ x 11.25″ imitation stone tile walls in “Waterfall.” We also included an integrated, matching stone corner seat and corner caddy, along with a shower wand. Finally, the custom vanity was made to match the shower walls in Onyx Collection’s “Waterfall.” This is another job we are proud of. James really did a great job.
