Frustrated with her leaking shower, Linda reached out to Buffalo Bath Pros to explore replacement options. She had found us on Facebook and was especially drawn to the fact that we work almost exclusively with cultured stone. It didn’t hurt that several of our past customers had commented on how affordable we were compared to other local companies. We take a lot of pride in that.
Jen Hugill, our Buffalo-based project manager, walked Linda through our process—from inspection to installation—while outlining price ranges and payment options. We offer flexible financing, which Linda opted to take advantage of. A site inspection was scheduled for the very next day to take measurements and help design a solution tailored to her space.

Linda wasn’t like many of our customers—she was active, had no major mobility concerns, and didn’t plan on moving anytime soon. Still, it made sense to prioritize accessibility where possible. Her bathroom was small, and the shower even smaller—an unusual, non-standard footprint. That’s no issue for us. Nearly everything we install is custom-made, and our cultured stone shower pans can accommodate almost any size up to ~80″x60″. We’ve tackled some very large, very custom spaces.
This layout, however, required a pivot door. The space was simply too narrow for a sliding door, which would have left only about 15″ of clearance—far too tight. The door also had to swing in one specific direction to avoid hitting the vanity. The biggest concern, though, was the leak. Water was dripping into the dining room below, ruining both the ceiling and the rug. The bathroom had been out of commission for nearly eight months.
After going over her options, Linda chose Samuel Mueller’s “Carrara” cultured stone in an imitation subway tile pattern. We paired it with a dual shower head and wand combo—the American Standard Spectra Duo—and a heavy-duty 3/8″ pivot door. All hardware was finished in brushed nickel. Given the urgency of the leak, we made an exception to our normal 8–12 week schedule and got her on the calendar in just seven weeks.
James Gray, our lead Buffalo installer at the time, arrived on-site at 8 a.m. sharp on the scheduled day of installation. Demo was more involved than usual—under the existing floor tiles was a thick layer of thinset that required extensive chiseling. Water damage to the subfloor and several studs also had to be addressed. We reassured Linda that this type of foundational prep work is included in our standard agreement. In this case, both the subfloor and several wall studs were replaced.
Beyond that, the job ran smoothly. James and his helper had everything wrapped up in just under four days. We followed up with Linda afterward to confirm everything went well—but couldn’t get through. That’s usually a good sign. Other than the surprise rave reviews (which we always love), no news typically means everything went according to plan.
